Old Hollywood Glam

It was so much fun to create a grad dress for the luminously lovely and effortlessly chic Katie. Her inspiration was Grace Kelly in High Society. What’s not to love about that?! We created a gown with a sweetheart bustier bodice, and skirt in a soft green, with an ethereal chiffon over layer in iridescent blue and pink. There were lilac, pink, and mint green embroidered cherry blossoms, hibiscus flowers and gold lined leaves cascading dreamily down the side of the dress. So pretty! I was really happy with how it turned out, and even happier that Katie loved it. I got this message from her the next day: ” Hey Hannah! Thank you so much, the dress is absolutely perfect! Thank you!! “. It was a joy to get to know Katie and her lovely mom, Jennifer. Congrats, Katie! I wish you much happiness and joy!

What I love the most about custom design is the creative process that happens from the initial consultation where design and fabric ideas are discussed, to the sketches, and then the actual sewing and fittings. I was so excited to make Katie’s grad gown right from the start. The design changed a little as we worked on the dress, and the end result was stunning on her!

Original sketch of Katie’s dress. We decided on an iridescent blue/ pink chiffon, and changed the design to sleeveless with low back without the strap detail or slit in the front.
