Love in the City

When Angela first came to see me about creating custom designs for her wedding, I was ecstatic! I have known Angie and Mitch for some time, and I couldn’t have been happier to hear that they were getting married! They are two of the most wonderful, caring, and fun-loving people I’ve met.  I felt beyond honored to be asked to be a part of their special day. I had the joy of designing Angie’s sister Lisa’s wedding dress and bridal party a couple years back, and we had so much fun together then. I knew that it was going to be a fabulous time!

Angela and Mitch were getting married at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia in downtown Vancouver, which is known for it’s legendary glamor and modern elegance.  It was going to be a very stylish occasion!

For the ceremony we created a gorgeous cathedral length custom tulle veil. I think this stunning picture shows it off perfectly!

For the reception, Angela wanted a headpiece that would suit the glamorous soiree that would take place in the evening.  We created a chic birdcage veil with a dreamy feather detail,  glittering with a vintage inspired crystal jewel.

Angela had already found her dress in a boutique, but it need to be altered.  We made some changes to make it perfect for her.

We also designed a  sweet flower girl dress for Kiara, the little princess!  It was made with a beautiful silk hemp satin, with a gathered crystal organza skirt in diamond white, and trimmed with beads at the top of the bodice. The grey chiffon belt matched the bridesmaid dresses. What a doll!

I am so thrilled to have been a part of Angela and Mitch’s unforgettable and luminescent day! May the celebrations continue for a lifetime together!

Magic in Bali

You know how you can sometimes feel people’s energy in a very physical way? When I first met up with Hilda and Thierry, all I could think about was how  strong that energy was, and how beautiful they were together. It was as if shooting stars were exploding off of them, all sparkly.  I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time. This is what I just love about love- the ability to make others around you feel the happiness and peace that as a couple you feel yourself.

Hilda and Thierry came to see me to have their wedding attire made for their beach wedding in Bali. How fabulous! Destination wedding outfits is one of my fave to create, and what made it even more special is that Hilda and I are friends.   We re-connected while working at Holt’s in Vancouver, and realized we knew each other from high school on the coast! I knew this was going to be a lot of fun!

Dress fitting! It’s a little long, as Hilda would most likely have bare feet on the beach, so I took it up a little.

As they were getting married on the beach in a remote area in Bali,  Hilda and Thierry both wanted their outfits to be crease resistant, and cool enough for a day time wedding. I knew we wanted to go with natural fabric for both. For Hilda’s dress we went with a luxurious double sided silk crepe, which was cut on the bias  so it would drape beautifully. Thierry chose a gorgeous Italian linen for both his tunic and pants. It also had a little spandex in it, which helped to keep it from creasing. The humidity on the island would also help a lot!

I love that Thierry decided to keep the colour of his wedding outfit a surprise from Hilda. I think it was a fantastic and unique choice for a beach wedding in  Bali.   The paprika shade of the tunic is one that he really likes, and is flattering on him.  I also did small embroidery around the collar on the tunic, inspired by the Polynesian tribal wave design that is used on tattoos. For the embroidery thread, I used the same shade of natural taupe as the pants, which tied them together well. It was the perfect touch to make it a little more formal for the occasion.

The beautiful couple!

After the wedding, Hilda told me that everything was perfect, and it was a magical day. When they were saying their vows, and big wave came and splashed her, soaking her dress. At least it wasn’t see-through! Thierry had said to her that the ocean had blessed them. I can’t think of a more perfect sign of good fortune as they begin their new adventure together!

I wish both Hilda and Thierry a lifetime of magic and happiness!

Feeling Blue

Ok, I’m actually not feeling blue in the least (the sun we FINALLY have been seeing this week in Vancouver has a lot to do that with!) , but I have been working with one of my fave colours. Here’s a few new designs, using a beautiful minty blue silk chiffon and crystal details.

Red Hot New Years

I am so happy with how Jasmine’s red chiffon New Years dress turned out! I think she looks beyond gorgeous! It helps that she always looks stunning, but I do think the dress is perfect on her. She said she had the best New Years, and I’m thrilled to hear that! I just adore Jasmine to pieces. Happiest New Years wishes to you! xoxo
